Horrified officers stumbled on a rotting corpse after following a homeless lady carrying a skull on a stick. Police came across the grisly sight after they followed the women to an abandoned house in the Californian city of Sacramento, USA.
The woman - wearing a pink jacket and patchwork pyjamas - led officers to the site of the decomposing body as that's where she'd taken the skull from.
A neighbour called Philip said he thought a cat had died when he smelt a disgusting stench that made him 'sick to the stomach Philip said the homeless woman, who he called “Victoria,” has lived at the abandoned home for years.
He said: “I went to walk back there and thought, Damn! What the hell is that smell? It make me sick to my stomach, so I turned my ass around and came back here. “(There were) twenty cop cars out here. And the cops got her out. And they’re taking pictures of her holding a head."
Police have spent two days analysing the scene of the gruesome find and are yet to announce if the victim has been identified. Sergeant Bryce Heinlein said: “A call like this is not something that happens every day. “We hope we can get down to the bottom of what caused this person to be deceased.
