One person has been injured in new protests in Charlotte over the killing of an African American Keith Lamont Hill, 43, who police say was armed and ignored commands to drop his weapon. Scott's family says the father of seven had a book in his hand on Tuesday.
Protesters threw blocks at police who used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
As at the time of reporting, there was a reinforcement of SWAT Police and the Fire service as well as the Emergency Medical Services.
Protests had remained peaceful in uptown on Wednesday, after the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott. But the scene turned chaotic after 8:30 p.m., when protesters went from Marshall Park to the Epicentre dining and entertainment complex and the Omni on Trade Street.
